You Asked, We Listened – HSR Training Now Available One Day Per Week Over Five Weeks

Over the past few months, many clients have told us that while they recognise the importance of Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training, releasing workers from the workplace for five consecutive days, or the traditional three-day and two-day training format, can be challenging. Operational demands, staffing levels, service delivery requirements, and the economic impact of prolonged absences can make attendance difficult, particularly in aged care, manufacturing, logistics, and service-based industries.

In response to this feedback, Courtenell is now offering the SafeWork NSW-approved 5-Day HSR Initial Training Course as one day per week over five consecutive weeks.

  • Currently, the one-day-per-week delivery format is available for our public virtual HSR courses.

  • We are exploring opportunities with our venue partners to offer face-to-face public courses in the same format.

  • For organisations seeking in-house (on-site) delivery, the one-day-per-week format is already available and can be tailored to suit operational requirements, participant availability, and site-specific needs.

The weekly format delivery model reduces the impact on workplace operations. Rather than losing a worker for an entire week, organisations can better manage resources, maintain productivity, and continue delivering services while still meeting their training obligations.

The weekly format also provides participants with an opportunity to apply their learning between sessions, reflect on workplace issues, and return with practical questions and experiences that enrich the learning process.

The course remains fully compliant with legislative requirements and covers all aspects of the approved HSR training curriculum. If your organisation has experienced challenges releasing workers for five consecutive days, this flexible delivery option may provide a practical solution while maintaining compliance with HSR training requirements.

It is the overarching duty of every organisation to provide a WHS management system that ensures the safety and wellbeing of its workers.
