Course Aim

​

This course is designed to provide corporate teams, managers and decision-makers with a practical understanding of risk management from both a WHS and broader organisational perspective. The course extends beyond WHS compliance by introducing the principles and framework of ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management – Guidelines, enabling participants to take a broader, multidisciplinary approach to risk across people, safety, operations, finance, reputation, projects, legal and regulatory compliance, technology, environment and strategic objectives.

 

Learning Outcomes:

 

• Understand risk in a corporate context, including how uncertainty, threats and opportunities can affect organisational objectives and performance.

• Understand the organisation’s legal and governance responsibilities for managing risk, including both physical and psychosocial workplace risks.

• Apply the principles of ISO 31000 to support structured, consistent and informed risk-based decision-making.

• Identify and evaluate multidisciplinary risks across areas such as people, operations, safety, finance, projects, compliance, reputation, technology and strategy.

• Evaluate risk treatments and controls, establish accountability and risk ownership, and determine when matters require management or executive escalation.

• Engage and communicate with stakeholders to support informed risk decisions, particularly where responsibilities and risks are shared.

• Monitor risk and obtain assurance that controls and treatments are implemented, effective and responsive to changing organisational circumstances.
