Our article last week, WHS Consultation in NSW in 2016, dealt with the methods of WHS Consultation that are being used in the 106 workplaces in NSW that we surveyed. See the table below.
These workplaces intend to have effective consultation. But how can they and other workplaces in NSW be sure they are achieving a level of consultation that SafeWork NSW would agree is effective consultation?
We created a checklist to assist with that endeavour and you can download that below if you wish.
WHS Consultation, Co-operation and Co-ordination Code of Practice
Thankfully the Code of Practice does provide “practical guidance to persons conducting a business or undertaking on how to effectively consult with workers …” It even has a chapter entitled “Effective Consultation”.
It has specific common sense details about what should be done to achieve and demonstrate that consultation in your workplace is effective. It is so clear and precise that you could make a checklist out of it.
So we did. A checklist can be a powerful tool for achieving specific targets.
You may prefer to create your own checklist. But if you wish you can download our checklist and modify it if you like. We created it in June 2013 and called it Effective Consultation in your Workplace.
