WHS Law for Directors and Officers

Why do this course?
It is the Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (business entity) and the officers of the PCBU (directors, CEOs, etc) that face the greatest penalties and legal consequences for breaches of health and safety compliance and for any incidents or accidents that may happen at work.

While it is the responsibility of the business to provide the WHS management system in the first place, it is the responsibility of its officers to ensure that the WHS management system is managed successfully in accordance with the law.

This course is a short course that helps to identify the mandatory duties that apply to any PCBU as the main duty holder under the WHS Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2017.
NOTE: This course is not suitable for businesses who manage operations in Victoria. Please click here for equivalent OHS law training applicable to Victoria.
Course Aims

This course aims to improve the awareness of directors and CEOs as to the duties of a PCBU, i.e. Primary duty of care, duty to manage risks, and the duty to consult with other duty holders and workers on WHS matters. Directors and CEOs, as officers of the PCBU must exercise "due diligence" to ensure those duties are met.
