Provide First Aid Course

This  course covers the nationally recognised units of competency HLTAID003 Provide First Aid and HLTAID001 Pro vide CPR. Delivered in partnership with and under the auspices of Safety Corp Pty Ltd RTO 91694.
Course Aims

The aim of this course is to impart the knowledge, skills and attitudes deemed necessary for giving competent care to the ill or injured until medical aid arrives.

 

Content

All attendees receive a comprehensive First Aid Manual. The course covers the following...

 

  •  Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
     

  •  Fractures and dislocations
     

  •  Bleeding, burns and shock.
     

  •  Head, chest, abdominal & spinal injuries
     

  •  Causes of collapse & unconsciousness
     

  •  Bandaging techniques and severed limbs
     

  •  Soft tissue injuries & common acute illness
     

  •  Poisoning, bites, stings and much more!

Course Information

Two Delivery Options

We are pleased to offer you a choice of delivery  formats:
 

  • One day Face to Face Training and Pre-Course learning - 60 minute (approx.) online module.

  • Two day (16hrs) Face to Face Training and assessment with 1 hr/day lunch breaks.

One Day Course
One Day Pre-Course arrangements

Once a client decides to go ahead with the Provide First Aid Course, they will then book the training date, venue and  number of participants with the Courtenell consultant. The client will be sent a PDF enrollment form that all participants need to complete prior to the course commencement. This form has important information requirements including the Unique Student Identifier (USI). The USI is required to obtain the certificate. To create a USI please visit  www.usi.gov.au. Finally, our trainer will contact the client to discuss further arrangements.

One Day Attendee Assessment

It is important that prior to arriving at the face to face training, attendees log on to the given online links to complete the  Pre-Learning First Aid Quiz Questions. This should take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. However, if the  Pre-learning cannot be completed by students online for some reason, then time can be allocated before the start  of the course. However, this must be arranged with the trainer at least 24 hours PRIOR to the start of the course.

Face  to face assessment requires that attendees demonstrate effective CPR on a manikin, effective communication in a  response situation, effective positioning of a casualty, effective bandaging, effective injury and illness management, effective auto Injector administration and effective reassurance for an injured person. Attendees are  also  required to successfully complete a written theory assessment during the course.

Outcomes:

On successful completion of this nationally recognised qualification, participants receive a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID003 Provide First Aid incorporating HLTAID001 Provide CPR. This certificate is valid for three (3) years but the CPR component of the course is valid for 12 months and will need to be updated annually for you to keep your CPR component current.

Attendees are to:

 

  •  have their USI (unique student identifier) number prior to the course. please visit www.usi.gov.au.

  •  bring 1 form of photo ID (Australian/International Passport or Australian Drivers License)

  •  bring a pen and wear comfortable clothing so that they can lay on a carpet floor.

  •  always arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

  •  have completed their pre-learning/quiz prior to course start.

Duration

Pre-Course Learning- 60 minute (approx.) online module.

8hrs Face to Face training and assessment with 1 hour break.

 

Cost

Course cost: $1400.00 + GST ($1540) Max class number = 20 participants.  
Plus $35 + GST ($38.50) per person (materials, certificate, and RTO administration.)

Two Day Course
Two Day Pre-Course arrangements

There is no pre-course learning or quiz in the two day Provide First Aid course. The 2 day Provide First Aid course provides attendees with increased coverage of each topic area. Knowledge and confidence is deepened significantly by an expanded physiological understanding of how and why an injury or illness may come about. Signs, symptoms and best treatments are discussed in depth.
