Construction General Induction Course

The unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry is designed to meet national and New South Wales regulatory authority requirements for Construction General Induction and must be achieved before access to any construction worksite. ‘Construction work’ means any work on or in the vicinity of a construction site carried out in connection with the construction, alteration, conversion, fitting out, commissioning, renovation, repair, maintenance, de-commissioning, demolition or dismantling of any structure.

Attendees who satisfy the requirements of this training can then apply to WorkCover for a white credit card sized 'WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate'. This card replaces what was know as the 'Green Card'.

 

Who needs to do this training?

General induction training is required for all persons:

> Who carry out construction work, including site managers and supervisors, surveyors,
    labourers and trades people
> Who access operational construction zones unaccompanied or not directly supervised
    by an inducted person
> Whose employment causes them to routinely enter operational construction zones

Aims

This training aims to provide participants with a basic knowledge of WHS legislative requirements, principles of risk management and the prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry.

Assessment

At the end of the course you are required to successfully complete a written assessment.
